My Travels: Prologue
Prologue:
Traveling and being always ready to move has been a constant factor in my life. Since I was a young child, my family has moved, frequently. Growing up my father, then my mother, was in sales. Dad spent most of the time as a traveling salesman. Along with travel came a tendency to frequently change jobs, change careers, change fields. These changes normally involved a move of some kind for the family.
A move within the town, ones across town, within the same state, to another state, to another part of the United States. Moving was a constant feature when I was growing up.
I once added it all up, by the time I was in the 9th grade I had lived in 30 some houses and apartments, across 6 different states.
This is a touch more than anyone else I have met in my life, save Military Brats, to have been on the move this much, but we know there are more people out there that travel more than that. The Romani, Nomads, tribal members, carnival workers and circuses, drifters and the like, they are all on the move more than I was.
So this blog is planned to be a remembrance of all the places I have been in my life. The prologue there did not cover it all. After High School I ended up going into the Navy. So a large portion of this will be me remembering all the countries I visited in the 9 total years I spent on Active Duty and the 11 years I spent in the Reserves, not near as much travelling in the Reserves. It will cover what I can remember, making for a nice memoir for myself later in life, getting it down in black and white. Someday I will add it to the autobiography I started a few years ago, use it to fill in the blanks in my ever so examined life that I lead.
